“Verdigris” recycled granite, driftwood and wire tree sculpture
Alan notes: My first attempt with copper wire ! It is different to work with….
After the ‘Black Summer NY 2020 bushfire, my partner took her daughter and I to the Far North Coast of NSW for a holiday.
I wandered the beaches collecting “flotsam and jetsam”.. feeling a bit like that myself at the time, after I lost it all in the fires, not knowing where I’d end up or in what circumstance I may find myself next.
The driftwood and shells are from around Hastings Point, the granite from my own property on the South Coast of NSW.
I decided to experiment to get this colour/ to simulate/ speed up the aging of the copper wire.
I used a mix of water, salt, vinegar- and a touch of soy sauce, (yes, soy sauce ! ) to create the unique final colour of the verdigris.
It now resides here at ” Holleywood ”
(The name of my property for all the obvious reasons!)
